Better Beta ("we", "us") makes a mobile app and this website for climbers to discover, log, and share routes. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as the product needs to work.

What we collect

• Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on this site, we store your email address, the page you came from, and the time you signed up.
• Account data. When you use the app, we store the email and profile details you provide to create and authenticate your account.
• Climbing content. The sends, routes, boulders, topo markings, grades, and photos you create or log.
• Location. With your permission, approximate or precise location is used to place crags and routes on the map. You can deny or revoke this in your device settings; the map still works on cached data.
• Technical data. Basic device and diagnostic information needed to deliver the service and fix problems.

How we use it

• To run the waitlist and send you a single launch invitation.
• To provide the app: authenticate you, sync your data, and show maps, feeds, and beta.
• To keep the service secure and to diagnose and fix issues.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Public content

Routes, boulders, sends, and stokes are designed to be shared with the climbing community and may be publicly visible to other users. Don't post anything you wouldn't want other climbers to see.

Where your data lives

Your account and climbing data are stored on our own servers (a self-hosted Supabase/Postgres instance). Photos are delivered through Cloudflare's image network. The app keeps an offline copy on your device so it works without signal, and syncs when you're back online.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until launch and then either rolled into your account or deleted. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).

Your choices

• Access, correct, or delete your data by emailing us.
• Turn location permission on or off in your device settings.
• Unsubscribe from the waitlist by replying to any email from us.

Children

Better Beta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email.
